Where is Chole Island?

Chole Mjini is a treehouse lodge on Chole Island, within the Mafia Island Marine Park, just minutes from Mafia Island, Tanzania. Chole is a small island about 1 km off Mafia's east coast, reached by boat from Utende. To get here, you can fly to Mafia Island from Dar es Salaam (around 30 minutes) or Zanzibar (around 45 minutes), with either Coastal Aviation or Auric Air. Once you arrive at Mafia Airport, on the west coast, we can arrange a meet-and-greet transfer by road across the island to Utende, where one of our boatmen will meet you. The road-and-boat transfer takes about 30 minutes. One important detail: Mafia Island Marine Park charges an entry fee per person per day, paid by card on arrival.
